Creator Studio spec
Creator Studio is the map editor in pack mode at /editor/creator-studio.
Import types
- Overlay — 256×384 reference; billboard on the overlay stack.
- Decal — choose Tall or Square frame before choosing a file (see below).
- Terrain — square source → 1024×1024 hex-masked tile.
Decal frames (not overlays)
The Frame control appears only when import type is Decal:
- Tall — 256×384 reference, ~683×1024 stored, billboard render (trees, signs, vertical props).
- Square — 256×256 reference, 1024×1024 stored, hex-cap render (ground art, paths, flats).
Ideal exports: 1024×1536 (tall) or 1024×1024 (square). Smaller images upload with quality warnings only — never blocked for resolution.
Overlay reference
- 256×384 — same footprint as built-in
hexMountain03. - Correct aspect → contain; wrong aspect → cover to 256×384.
- Storage long edge 1024 (~683×1024).
Workflow
- Pick import type (overlay, decal + frame, or terrain) → choose file → preview warnings → add to slot.
- Paint on the 3D board with the matching brush (overlay vs decal tools).
- Test export to confirm flat PNG/SVG matches what you see on the board.
- For overlays: mark each uploaded item 3D verified before pack submit.
- Upload collection items to pack storage, complete listing/provenance, submit for review.
Caps (per pack)
20 tiles · 50 overlays · 50 decals · 10 sprites.
Local collection notes
- Drafts use IndexedDB; a schema upgrade may clear local drafts once (uploaded pack items are unaffected).
- Frame choice is saved per pack in session storage alongside import type.
